How does an estimate work?¿Cómo funciona una cotización?

You tell us what you are thinking about, the rooms, the side of the house, whatever is bothering you, and send a photo if you have one. Then we come and look at it in person. Nobody can price a surface they have not seen, and the things that change the cost are usually the things you cannot photograph: what is under the old paint, how sound the wood is, how much prep the walls need. The size, the amount of prep, the number of colors and how much of the house you need back in use all move the number. Exterior work depends on temperature and conditions, since coatings need particular conditions to cure properly. Cleaning is how we finish a job: coverings come off, dust comes down, the rooms we worked in get cleaned, and what we moved goes back where it was, before the final walkthrough. Less than you might think, but a few things help. Clear small items, valuables and anything breakable off surfaces and out of the rooms we will be in. Take down what is on the walls if you can. Say in advance which pieces you would rather we did not move. Make sure we can get to the walls, and for exterior work, to the perimeter of the house.
